Zahidah is a PhD candidate in Visual Arts at Deakin University investigating ecology as a new political art movement based on a post imperialistic way of seeing landscape and people and its role and effect on our environment. My focus as an artist and a volunteer with community organisations in the Geelong region is to find a way to communicate with leaders and society for social and environmental change. I’m a volunteer member of ‘Humans in Geelong’, the Barwon Estuary Project, a radio producer at the community radio and founder and curator of ‘Mangroves from the Water’ art campaign to spread awareness about the beauty and importance of the mangroves.
